The Joseph P. Riley Center for Livable Communities and The Asiko Group are pleased to announce the launch of the Union Pier Community Advisory Council.
The Union Pier Community Advisory Council will be made up of diverse community representatives who bring a range of perspectives and lived experience. Each member of the council will represent a group, community, or organization impacted by the development of Union Pier. The Community Advisory Council’s role will be to advise on and represent the issues that are important to Charleston-area stakeholders related to the future of the Union Pier site.
The Community Advisory Council will operate alongside the Union Pier Stakeholder Advisory Committee, which began meeting in August 2023. While the Stakeholder Advisory Committee advises and safeguards the planning process itself, the purpose of the Community Advisory Council is to give voice to the many issues related to the future of Union Pier and to fully engage the community in Union Pier planning.
