The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded Bessemer City a $500,000 Brownfields Assessment Grant to fund environmental assessments of properties located within a census tract near the center city corridor. Community input will help Bessemer City, Terracon, and the EPA identify, develop, and evaluate a list of potential brownfield sites for redevelopment, to create job opportunities and other community resources.
