Community Engagement Coordinator

We are looking for a part-time community engagement coordinator to join a growing, energetic team with a deep commitment to building relationships and trust within rural and urban communities. Experience working on projects in urban design and planning, or creative placemaking is a plus.

  • Time: Up to 10-15 hours per week
  • Pay: $22-30/hr

The Community Engagement Coordinator will contribute to unique strategies and thought-partnership used to engage and educate communities and organize public meetings with active involvement and story-telling, to ensure the community’s voice guides design and development in the spaces they call home.  This position is hybrid, engaging with virtual teams, and working in-person within communities.

As a part-time Community Engagement Coordinator, your responsibilities will be adjusted to accommodate your limited hours while maximizing impact. Here’s how your duties may look: 


  • Co-design engagement strategies that align with each community’s cultural needs and project goals.  Understanding of coordinating successful canvassing routes and volunteers as needed. This includes conducting research and gathering feedback to assess community needs, preferences, and concerns.
  • Increase community engagement through outreach by staying informed about relevant community issues, trends, and best practices in engagement methodologies. Serve as a liaison between team, stakeholders and partner organizations for meetings and issues important to community members.  Keep an organized calendar of recurring meetings such as city council meetings, neighborhood association meetings, planning commission, etc. 
  • Manage customer relationship management (CRM) database for effective and timely outreach ahead of project deadlines 

Communications: Contribute content to communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and website content, to disseminate information and promote engagement opportunities. Record engagement experience with photos, quotes, and videos at community meetings and events.  Assist in the preparation of reports, PPT presentations, and other materials to communicate project progress and outcomes to stakeholders. 

Event Coordination: Coordinate and execute community engagement initiatives, including workshops and outreach events, as needed.  Provide logistical support for events, including venue coordination, participant registration, and material preparation. Meetings may fall on weekends or evenings when community engagement activities are typically scheduled.

Client Relations: Maintain communication with clients, providing updates and gathering feedback as needed, while prioritizing key interactions during available hours.

Additional Desired Skills: In a part-time role, it’s crucial to prioritize tasks effectively, communicate openly with your team about your availability, and maximize your impact by focusing on high-priority activities that align with the project goals and objectives.

Desired Software Experience: ASANA, Slack, CRM database, Google Drive, Canva, Miro and Microsoft Suite
